Many classify the Japanese as the second largest unreached people group in the world. With fewer than 0.5% professing Christ, the need is great, but so are the opportunities. Building on the work of World Presbyterian Missions before us, MTW has been ministering in several Japanese cities alongside the Presbyterian Church in Japan for decades. Now we’re looking to plant new churches and strengthen current congregations in the cities of Sendai and Osaka.
In Sendai, we need an ordained church planter plus those gifted in ministries such as children/youth, music, women’s ministries, and more. Team members would spend several years gaining language and cultural experience, mentored by a current church in Sendai, eventually becoming ready to begin planting new churches, with a goal to see a viable presbytery formed. We prayerfully seek to see a similar new team raised up to minister in the Osaka area as well.
