COMPASSION FUND/DISASTER RESPONSE
Helping Missionaries Respond to Disasters
Right now, it’s the war in Ukraine: The country awoke to the sound of bombing—the Russian invasion had begun. Many evacuated but a number stayed to set up relief centers for the flood of refugees expected to stream through Lviv.
In August 2021 it was Haiti, hit by a devastating 7.2 earthquake that knocked the southern coast to its knees with expansive destruction, loss of life, and injuries.
And then there was COVD-19.
When missionaries face disasters such as these, they are able to request immediate help from the Compassion Fund. Your gifts to this fast-to-field reserve enable our missionaries and national partners to quickly respond to urgent situations in their communities, meeting physical needs, sharing the love of Christ, and establishing a foothold for gospel ministry.* In 2021 alone, we were able to assist in 19 different emergency situations, many due to the ongoing pandemic.
Right now, can you help serve the most vulnerable by giving?
*Funds received by MTW as part of a disaster response appeal are used for relief and recovery, construction, travel for response teams, and related needs as well as for longer-term rebuilding and church planting. Exceptionally, when there are unspent funds, they will be used in future disaster and compassion situations.
