The tiny nation of Belize, situated in the neck of the Yucatan peninsula and facing the Caribbean Sea, is well-known for its barrier reef and amazing biodiversity of species. It’s also home to a surprising diversity of cultures. The population of less than 400,000 people is comprised of mestizos, Creoles, Garifunas, east Indians, Mennonites, Asians, and Europeans, to name a few. English is the official language, but Creole and Spanish are widely spoken as well. As you might expect in such a diverse nation, there are a variety of spiritual traditions and practices—fertile soil for the work of church planting.
Ministry in Belize centers around leadership development, church revitalization, and church planting in several different areas including the Cayo district in the west and the Corozal and Orange Walk districts in the north. Additional outreach is done through our work in the Presbyterian Medical Clinic in Patachkan. MTW Belize is there to grow Reformed, covenantal, grace-based churches with strong leaders—churches that will be beacons of light to a nation that needs Christ.
