Nestled at the edge of the Black Forest, Freiburg im Breisgau is often called Germany’s sunniest city and is known for its natural beauty, vibrant culture, and progressive spirit. As a hub for environmental science, renewable energy, and innovation, Freiburg attracts students, researchers, and professionals from around the world, particularly through its renowned university and sustainability initiatives. The city offers a high quality of life, with charming medieval architecture, bustling markets, and a thriving arts scene. Yet, despite its outward richness, Freiburg remains spiritually dry. With less than 1% of the population attending a gospel-preaching church, the hope of the gospel is largely unknown.

The MTW Freiburg team is helping pioneer church planting alongside a partner Reformed, German-speaking denomination. Together we are planting a Reformed church that seeks the lost and makes disciples. While the current ministry priorities are university outreach, mercy ministry, and migrant ministry, the vision is to see all people in Freiburg hoping in Christ.
