Christ Bible Institute, Nagoya, Japan
For decades, pastors in the Nagoya area prayed for a seminary where young people could be trained for gospel ministry. Ministries of Christ Bible Institute (CBI) now include a graduate-level seminary; the Heart and Soul, a café outreach to young people; a church planting center; a counseling project focused on resourcing and training Japanese Christians to provide counseling; and the CBI press, translating and publishing key Christian resources in Japanese. God graciously provided a new ministry campus in the heart of downtown Nagoya, just 300 meters from Nagoya Station.
The vision of the CBI Team is to ENGAGE Japanese society with the gospel, EXPAND the kingdom of God through church planting, and to EQUIP leaders in the gospel. Though the nation of Japan is one of the greatest mission challenges of the world—only 0.2 percent attend a Protestant church—the country has entered a season of unprecedented spiritual openness as a result of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. The CBI ministries are uniquely situated to take advantage of this new openness to the gospel.
