RUF-Global is reaching the next generation in Zimbabwe (VIDEO)
Campus minister Tendai Chihaka and his wife, Mercy, serve alongside other RUF-Global staff at National University of Science and Technology, or NUST, the second biggest university in Zimbabwe. Through Bible studies and one-on-one discipleship, the RUF team is pouring their lives into the lives of Zimbabwean students for the sake of the gospel. Their hope is not just for gospel transformation, but also that God would call some of the students into campus ministry, and call some to be church planters. With 15 universities across Zimbabwe, there’s a lot of ground to cover.
Bible studies are on Mondays and Wednesdays. Tuesday is the day they concentrate on walk-up evangelism.
“If you walk on campus here, everyone says, ‘I’m a Christian,’” Tendai explains. “It’s only when you start to ask the hard question like, ‘What does it mean to follow Christ?’ that you realize that most don’t really understand. We want to try and help them understand who Jesus is, why He came, and what it means to be a follower of Christ.”
The team at NUST invites the Western church to partner with them in 3 ways: prayer, financial partnership, and by visiting them on campus. “Pray for us. Pray that God would help us to be faithful to the gospel. That He would grow the students in their love, in their knowledge of Christ. Pray that God would really use us for His own glory here at NUST.”
