Missionary Kiki Adams serves with MTW in Thailand.

Kiki Adams’ Call to Counseling in Thailand Unfolded in God’s Perfect Timing (VIDEO)

By Tom Mills, Jun 24, 2025

Trey and Kiki Adams married knowing they wanted to serve in missions together. While Trey got his M.Div. in preparation for church planting, Kiki decided to get her master’s in marriage and family therapy. As she went through the program and started seeing clients, she felt like this was the Lord made her to do. She felt designed to be a counselor.

When Trey and Kiki moved to Thailand, Kiki put her counseling desires on the shelf and didn’t know if they would ever come off again. As she says, “You can’t counsel people if you can’t speak their language.” Trey and Kiki began language study and church planting.

Eventually they handed off a church plant to a Thai pastor and had the opportunity to move to a new city. In Chiang Mai, an opportunity opened up for Kiki to serve with a counseling ministry counseling missionaries. That led to training and equipping Thai believers to counsel others—meeting a deep need among the Thai community. Now back in Bangkok, Kiki continues to serve with the same counseling ministry.

To Kiki’s delight, God honored her willingness to set aside her plans, and brought her to a place where she could use her passions and giftings to serve others and better equip the Thai Church to serve their own people.
