A Church Plant Offers Hope for Brussels (VIDEO)

Brussels is one of the most international cities in the world. It’s the headquarters of the European Union and NATO, with lots of international students. Brussels is a secular, post-Christian society. MTW missionary Julian Bacon notes that “for a country that has traditionally been Catholic, we’re in a generation now where parents are not even baptizing their kids anymore, and so we’re really getting past even that cultural Christianity. I think we’re in a new era.”
Julian believes Brussels needs more churches—evangelical, Protestant, French-speaking, Dutch-speaking, English-speaking churches. So that’s what they’re planting. What started as informational meetings in the Bacons’ living room blossomed into worship services for a new church the group decided to call Hope International Church of Brussels.
Julian’s hope for this church is that it would be a church for Brussels, a church that is multicultural because Brussels has people from all over the world. Hope is what Brussels needs.
