Olivares, Oscar & Nancy

Serving in Japan | Acct # 400521

PERSONAL NOTE

Oscar and Nancy Olivares are originally from Yucatan, Mexico, and married in 1985. After Oscar graduated from medical school, they moved to the U.S. so Oscar could work on his postgraduate studies. They dreamed of going back to Mexico as soon as he finished his orthopedic specialty. However, the Lord had different plans. In 1987 after renewing their relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit directed Oscar’s heart to accept a call to ministry. Five years later, he graduated from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. Oscar served as pastor in Douglas, Arizona, in a bilingual, multicultural congregation from 1992–2000. Nancy served God as a teacher and finished her degree in education. Since 2000, they have been living in San Antonio, Texas, where Nancy finished her master’s degree in bilingual/multicultural studies. She has been teaching for 22 years. Oscar has served in hospice as chaplain, bereavement counselor, and volunteers manager for 20 years.

Now, the Lord is calling them to serve in Nagoya, Japan. Oscar and Nancy are looking forward to church planting, discipleship, teaching elementary school to missionaries’ children, and assisting in the opening of a new Christian school.
