Lauren Derflinger

Lauren grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and came to know Jesus at a young age. Growing up in a missionally minded family, she had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Honduras at the age of 13 where her initial interest in cross cultural ministry was sparked.

Japan is rich in culture and beauty, but less than 1% of the Japanese people know Jesus. Learning of the deep need for Christ in Japan in 2023, God began to give Lauren a heart for seeing the gospel advance in Japan.

Graduating with a B.M. and M.M. in oboe, Lauren is a passionate advocate for youth music education. Lauren has also been serving in the children’s ministries of her church since she was able to serve as a youth assistant. She has been praying about her role in God’s plan for ministry coupling her heart for youth and music ministry. She will be serving with the Next Asia-Pacific Team in Nagoya, Japan, through outreach ministry, discipleship, and local church partnerships, reaching the “10-30” window (10-30-year-olds).
