Baldwin, Dean & Kyria

Serving in Ethiopia | Acct # 13703

PERSONAL NOTE

God placed both Dean and Kyria in Christian families in which they knew Jesus from early ages. They met in 2010 while volunteering at a coffee shop ministry in western Pennsylvania where they learned to practice hospitality, to listen, and to seek justice while living out their faith.

Kyria joined MTW in 2012 and worked in Muslim West Africa from 2014 to 2018. She helped with minority language Bible translation and supported national Presbyterian church-planting efforts by visiting and encouraging the wives of village pastors and evangelists.

Dean worked in the Solomon Islands from August 2017 to February 2018, participating in theological education and agricultural work.

Following their marriage in 2018, Dean and Kyria worked for two years in a majority Muslim, post-Soviet country in Central Asia. Their son was born in 2022 while in the U.S. on home assignment. They then accepted an invitation to join the MTW team in Ethiopia. For their first term they will be learning language and culture and partnering with SIL International to help develop a “Faith and Farming” program. Dean and Kyria hope that this work will serve the Presbyterian church in Ethiopia as well as the wider Church there.
