Brasov, Romania
Nestled in the southern Carpathian Mountains, Brasov is a city of both beauty and fatalism, a post-communist city of intellectuals where failure is not an option and brokenness is never admitted. Steeped in the ancient traditions of the Eastern Orthodox Church, many Romanians claim to believe in God, yet few really practice their faith or have experienced the reality of grace or a relationship with Jesus.
The evangelical Church stands out here—a community of people who admit their own brokenness and mirror the selfless love of their Creator. Working with a local church plant and the Transylvania Center for Leadership and Development (TCLD), the MTW team focuses on relational ministry and leadership development in the community. They mentor young families, work with business people, teach English language classes, and work with students at the local university and elementary schools—all while sharing the love of Christ and hope of the gospel.
