Serving Refugees: Understanding Their Journey (AUDIO)

By Staff, Jan 29, 2019

In the coming weeks, we'll be releasing the audio from MTW West Coast's Fall 2018 Equip missions training which focused on serving refugees. These will be posted on our blog and distributed through MTW Online, our bi-weekly email newsletter. A new seminar will be posted every two weeks. We think you'll find these seminars informative, encouraging, and challenging.

According to the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), the number of forcibly displaced people worldwide has reached over 60 million, the highest level since World War II. How will we as Christians respond? The first step is learning to better understand them and their plight.

Dr. Kay Burklin, MTW's refugee liaison, and Alli H., a former missionary to the Middle East, begin by defining the differences and similarities between refugees and immigrants, describing the current state of the refugee crisis in the world, and explaining what the refugee journey is like. You've heard the rhetoric, seen the images, but who are these people? Where are they coming from, why are they leaving, and what are they hoping for?

Listen and learn more about the plight of the refugees and immigrants and how you can become better equipped to minister to and share the good news with them.

This seminar was recorded live at the 2018 Equip missions training in Tucson, Arizona. Equip is a quarterly training event sponsored by MTW West Coast designed to deepen your understanding of missions and help you see how God's global plan intersects with your life. Additional seminars are available on Soundcloud.
