How Hiking, Swimming Lessons, and ESL Create True Refugee Friendships (AUDIO)

By David & Erin Pervis interviewed by Kay Burklin, Carolyn Morris, Feb 22, 2022
This audio is the most recent episode of "Refugees: What You Don’t Hear on the News," a podcast by MTW missionary Kay Burklin and former missionary Carolyn Morris.

MTW missionaries David and Erin Pervis moved to Athens, Greece, as the refugee crisis was rapidly spreading across Europe. They decided to move to Athens specifically to work with refugees alongside the church in Glyfada. What started with teaching English, meeting non believers, connecting them with the church, has expanded into other relationship-building activities such as hiking and swimming. It’s been life-giving for refugees to get out of the city and up into the mountains, and the hikes make for easy conversations that often touch on the trauma they've each experienced.

Listen to this insightful interview with the Pervises about their work with refugees in Greece, and hear Erin and David's heart for refugees through stories of individuals overcoming trauma and beginning a new life in Athens, Greece.
