A Picture of Adoption and a Life Transformed Through RUF-Global (VIDEO)

Daniel Hernandez grew up in Bogota, Colombia, and became increasingly aware of the void in his heart as he sought love through relationships with girls in college. He knew he needed help to deal with sexual sin, and sought out a church that taught him about grace and repentance from Scripture. He then reached out to MTW missionary Peter Dishman and some RUF interns from his campus’s RUF-Global ministry. That’s where he found that community he had longed for.
Daniel joined the RUF community, and eventually became an RUF intern where God has been using him to lead others in their faith journey. Daniel believes that people need a sense of belonging and community, especially those from broken families. He sees the adoption metaphor in the Bible as an example of the kind of love and acceptance that people can find in Jesus. He shares his personal experience of being adopted by his stepfather as an example of imperfect love and how it encouraged him to think about the perfect love of adoption in Jesus.
