In 2020, MTW London Team Leader Rob Ilderton asked MTW for help. The pastor of Immanuel Church in Brentford, Stuart Cashman, was out on medical leave and the church needed pastoral support. Todd and Liz Crusey answered that call. The video God’s Perfect Timing for a London Church tells that story.

At the end of November 2023, God called Pastor Stuart home to glory. Todd had the task of not only informing the church of Stuart’s passing, but of leading the church through a time of transition. He felt completely overwhelmed and inadequate for the task.

As Todd looked toward next steps, he decided to take the elders and the church through 1 and 2 Timothy, believing it would be helpful as they began a search for a new pastor, particularly in a context where candidates are harder to come by than in the U.S. Todd found great encouragement in Timothy that a qualified candidate is less of a checklist of skills and more about character. It was a good reminder that church needed a humble shepherd, like Stuart had been. The search led them to Iain Clements, a man after God’s own heart.
