Crossing Cultures: Chinese Man Finds Faith in Bogota, Colombia

By Staff, Jul 30, 2019

Missionaries in Colombia first met "Jay" two years ago when his Colombian fiancée, a believer, brought him to United Church of Bogota, an English language church where she knew he could understand the language. A native of China, Jay only speaks Mandarin and English. MTW missionaries welcomed the couple and even joined them later at an authentic Chinese restaurant nearby.

After a few weeks the couple traveled to China to get married and celebrate Chinese New Year. When they returned to Bogota, now with a baby in tow, Jay expressed more interest in Christianity. A missionary teammate began to meet with Jay and gave him a Chinese Bible. Several months later Jay came to faith and another missionary teammate had the privilege of baptizing him. He will return to China with his family in about a year.

What a great reminder that the gospel is not limited by regions or languages. Thank you for your gifts to MTW. Every gift plays an important role in helping to spread the gospel to the nations.
