A physical church building makes a powerful statement of credibility and permanence in the minds of Ukrainians. The Greek Catholic Church (the main historical church) has buildings. Cults or fringe groups typically do not and are viewed with suspicion. Overcoming this deeply ingrained cultural perception is difficult for a new church.

For the church plant in Lviv to grow and reach the surrounding city and the region, cultural credibility is important. One of the best ways to accomplish this is for the church to own a permanent, physical building. With a building, locals will consider coming to a service and Ukrainian believers can more naturally invite family and friends to church. And as the Lviv team develops relationships with people investigating the gospel, with those who desire a place of community and growth, a building is important symbol of legitimacy.
