Spring of Hope

Although the government of Bulgaria is making significant efforts to combat human trafficking, the small nation remains, alarmingly, a major source of vulnerable women and children who are subjected to forced prostitution. To a lesser extent, Bulgaria also serves as a transit and destination country.

The MTW Bulgaria team partners with Spring of Hope to assist and protect people at risk of exploitation through prevention and intervention. They also support the recovery of victims of trafficking, slavery, and other forms of injustice.

This mission takes several forms. The team provides education for vulnerable—often impoverished—populations to encourage personal growth and well-being while helping guard against the often hidden dangers of recruitment. They also manage the national hotline for combating human trafficking. The hotline offers free, confidential, and accessible assistance to individuals reporting concerns, victims, people at risk, and their relatives. Finally, the team seeks to reach victims of exploitation where they are—on the streets, in clubs, and online. Through a variety of creative approaches, they express empathy, inspire hope, and offer alternatives. In all of this, they are always looking for ways to share the light of the gospel and the message that everyone can receive a second chance.
