Sakalava Ministry Project
Africa | Project # 91093
God has been using this project to greatly enhance the outreach and church-planting efforts of MTW missionaries and national partners among the Sakalava people of Madagascar. Part of the project involves bringing the Word of God to the people in their own unique language and music. Funds are used to support the ongoing translation of Scripture into the Sakalava language as well as the creation and production of Sakalava worship music by talented local musicians. The project has brought the team into relationship with many non-believers on the island who would normally stay away from anything evangelistic, but are attracted to the presentation of the gospel in their own music and language at local gatherings.
Mama Vao Vao, the second part of the project, is a business as mission venture that provides employment to Sakalava women. The women, who are gifted artisans, create beautiful handmade goods— bags, tea towels, and ornaments—that are for sale in Madagascar and beyond. The project seeks to create successful business opportunities for young women and youth so that they see the value in good, honest work rather than turning to prostitution, which is legal in Madagascar.
God has used both parts of the project to increase the number of those who desire to come and worship Christ, and the church there is growing as a result. Please help support and expand this powerful and visible outreach to the Sakalava people.
