Elias Riggs Center for Biblical Studies
Europe - Eastern | Project # 90786
The Elias Riggs Center for Biblical Studies bears the name of an American Presbyterian missionary (1810–1901) who was used by God to profoundly impact the establishment of Protestantism in the Ottoman Empire. In partnership with the Union of Evangelical Congregational Churches of Bulgaria (UECCB), the legacy of Elias Riggs fuels the MTW team’s commitment to training Bulgaria’s church leaders.
Church planting is at the heart of the team’s mission. The Elias Riggs Center offers theological education to pastors and church leaders from throughout Bulgaria, including leaders of Roma/gypsy congregations. Many of these leaders struggle daily to provide for their families, and without the Elias Riggs Center, few would ever have access to comprehensive biblical training and equipping. With courses taught by Bulgarians whenever possible, bachelors, masters, and doctoral courses of study prepare graduates to reach Bulgarians with the life-giving hope of the gospel.
Your support of the Elias Riggs Center will ensure the foundation for a Reformed and covenantal church-planting movement in Bulgaria.
