Seungsae Cho has a passion to glorify the Lord’s name by planting Reformed, biblical churches where the gospel of Jesus Christ would be preached in Uganda, especially in the countryside. Seungsae means “victory” in Korean (John 16:33).

While Seungsae was serving in the South Korean Army, he was near the border between North and South Korea. Because it was a remote mountainous region, the soldiers had to endure loneliness and hunger. When he preached the gospel in the barracks’ cafeteria every Sunday, by God’s grace, the congregation grew from three people to 30 within a year. Furthermore, soldiers in the barracks became happier and stronger when they lived according to the gospel. Based on this experience, he wants to establish churches in the rural areas of Uganda where people face hardship and hunger, so he can share the gospel of Jesus with them.

He will start his mission with MTW missionary and pastor Ben Church, who has served Uganda with church planting since 2013, in Christ Our Refuge Church in southern Kampala, Uganda. The church is a member congregation of the Reformation Church in East Africa (RCEA), a new Reformed and Presbyterian denomination focused on the training, ordination, and sending of Ugandan teaching elders and church planters.
