Sam Cole
Intern | Bulgaria | Acct # 401068

Sam was baptized and raised in a Christian family, growing up in the Midwest. He casually attended church throughout his life, but due to a variety of factors, developed a very damaged relationship with God. Sam was running away from God when he agreed to travel with his church to Mexico at age 16. After seeing the work that God was doing in impoverished parts of the world and encountering Christ’s grace, Sam accepted Jesus as his Savior.
Sam desired to continue his experience of service by enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps after he graduated from high school. In the first half of his contract, he served as an Arabic linguist. Eventually, Sam tried out for the Special Forces and served the remainder of his time as a Reconnaissance Marine. However, Sam noticed the work culture was spiritually destitute and damaging his relationship with Jesus. Two months before he was supposed to deploy with his team, he was informed that his contract was “miraculously” cut short. Sam was no longer going to deploy for his country, but knew that he needed to deploy for God’s kingdom.
Sam is excited to intern with MTW Bulgaria. He is prepared to offer his foreign language skills through the English ministry and his desire for Christ-centered relationships to guide his spread of the gospel. He is also looking forward to being properly discipled in a Christian community.
