James was born into a Christian household, but he did not have a true relationship with God until late high school/early college, through the mentorship of a high school teacher. Through this mentoring relationship God opened James’ eyes to life in vocational ministry, and it led to him changing his major to Christian studies, and ultimately led him to pursue a summer internship with Mission to the World.

God sovereignly led James to Bulgaria, where he fell in love with the language, the culture, and the MTW team serving there. God used the internship to reveal to him how He could use James’ lifetime passion of playing soccer along with his administrative and empathic gifts to serve Bulgarians as a part of the team.
