Hill, Scott & Ruth
Serving in United States | Acct # 13394
Scott and Ruth Hill have been serving with Mission to the World as church planters in Cherokee, North Carolina, since 2013. God has called the Hills to the work of planting a Reformed church among the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians on the Qualla Boundary (the official name of what is otherwise known as the Cherokee Indian Reservation).
Scott was ordained as a teaching elder in the PCA in 1992 and pastored two churches in South Carolina before serving with MTW. The Hills, along with a few members of the community, began holding worship services as Grace Community Church of Cherokee in June 2016. The church plant continues to meet each Sunday for worship and Wednesday evening for Bible study. Scott continues to work with an addiction recovery group in Cherokee and he and Ruth volunteer with the Cherokee Cancer Support Group where Scott also serves as a volunteer chaplain. Ruth meets one-on-one with the women in the church for discipleship, encouragement, and prayer. She also works with the children who attend church through teaching Bible lessons each week. Hospitality is also one of Ruth’s gifts that she practices whenever given the opportunity.
