Laura fell in love with Japanese language and culture in high school. Her passion deepened as she majored in Japanese and minored in Asian studies in college and spent a year abroad at Waseda University in Tokyo. As she learned about Japan’s cultural barriers to Christianity, she felt God placing its people—the world’s second-largest unreached group—on her heart.
After graduating, Laura spent five years teaching English and giving chapel talks at a Christian school in Aomori, Japan. Encouraged by opportunities to build relationships and share the gospel, she felt called to full-time ministry. In 2018, she returned to the U.S. to pursue an M.A. in theological studies at Westminster Theological Seminary.
After completing her degree, Laura joined MTW’s Makuhari team in Chiba Prefecture in 2022. Now beginning her second term, she is excited to continue serving a local Japanese church through leading youth Sunday school, discipling women, and developing teaching materials. Her prayer is for the gospel to advance in Japan—bringing new people to Christ and strengthening believers.
