Olivia Bahemuka came to faith in Uganda during high school and served with First Presbyterian Church as a youth leader and choir member before attending Kuiper College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Throughout college in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Birmingham, Alabama, she engaged in summer missions with Christ Covenant, Oak Mountain, and Briarwood Presbyterian churches, learning to mobilize and plan medical mission efforts between the U.S. and Uganda in support of church planting in East Africa and Asia.

As a nursing professor, Olivia worked on U.S. grants supporting sub-Saharan countries including Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Botswana. This work deepened her conviction that efforts toward human flourishing outside the gospel are ultimately unsustainable. God led her to a faith-based university in Nashville, where she has also served Christ Presbyterian Church for nine years in domestic missions, diaconal ministry, the Global Missions Committee, and as a school board trustee.

An MTW 2024 vision trip to Govan, Scotland, proved pivotal—confronted by the spiritual need of a land that once sent missionaries worldwide, Olivia surrendered fully. She is now returning to support Govan Free Church in its vision of a healthy gospel church in every community of Scotland, through women’s pastoral care, discipleship, and mercy ministry including counseling, a food bank, and recovery programs.

Prayer Request: Please pray for Olivia’s transition to Scotland, for fruitful ministry among Govan’s multinational community, and that God would be glorified as His church is built up across Scotland. All glory to our kind and longsuffering God!
