Matsinger, Jay & Nancy

Serving in Czech Republic | Acct # 14724

PERSONAL NOTE

Jay and Nancy Matsinger met and came to faith in Christ while students at Clemson University. Jay received his B.A. from Clemson and his M.Div. from Columbia Graduate School of Bible and Missions. He is ordained and a member of Savannah River Presbytery. They have two grown sons, James Jr. and Joseph.

The Matsingers served in France from 1988 to 2015 with MTW and Greater Europe Mission in evangelism and discipleship. Now MTW and GEM have reassigned them to Prague in the Czech Republic, one of the least religious populations in the world with one of the highest percentage of atheists in the European Union. Jay and Nancy will participate in Faith Community Church, an English speaking international church in Prague that was started by PCA pastors and is now part of the International Presbyterian Church based in the UK. Their son James is in sports ministry in Prague and they hope to help him follow-up with his many contacts.

In addition to reaching out to the many English-speaking internationals, they want to offer English language help to Czech people to build relationships, share the gospel, lead discovery Bible studies, disciple believers to be multiplying disciples, and train future leaders. They also hope to reach out to French speakers in Prague who have asked for Protestant worship services. Even a non-religious young Czech couple encouraged Jay and Nancy to come to Prague to share the Christian message of hope with the many young adults who are searching for meaning and purpose in their lives. Jay and Nancy would appreciate your prayers, encouragement, and support. They were delayed from returning to Europe because of Nancy’s prolonged recovery from a bone marrow transplant for bone marrow cancer, but they hope to move to Prague by the end of 2017.
