Cary, Paul

Serving in Scotland | Acct # 400926

PERSONAL NOTE

When Paul left engineering to explore ministry, he enrolled in a seminary in Edinburgh, Scotland. He fell in love with Scotland and wondered if he could immigrate to Scotland and be ordained as a pastor.

Paul’s pastor in Scotland recognized his gifts in ministry as a team player whose attention to detail blessed the church. Yet, he also saw the immediate need for pioneering pastors in Scotland who could work relatively independently to plant or revive churches. He recommended that Paul explore mission opportunities. At the time, no clear path existed for him to go as a missionary to Scotland. It looked like God was closing that door.

After four years of working with church plants in Philadelphia and Romania, things changed. MTW built strong relationships in Scotland, and a new opportunity arose to return. The pastor emailed Paul. “Cornerstone is trying to plant in Gilmerton and start a Spanish-speaking congregation. We are at full stretch and need the kind of gifts you bring: music, tech, discipleship, cross-cultural ministry. ... We know we work well together, and you get our DNA.” Praise God for such a clear calling. Pray for Paul as he joins the church planting team in Scotland.
