Stevens, Carla
Serving in Global | Acct # 16848
Carla came to faith as a young child after hearing the story of the five missionaries killed in Ecuador. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Covenant College and her doctoral degree from Regent University. Since joining MTW in 1989, she has worked as an educator, helping children in other lands hear the gospel while they, too, are young (2 Timothy 3:15).
In 1999, after teaching at Alliance Academy in Quito, Ecuador, Carla was called to help the Presbyterian Church in Belize strengthen its Christian school program. Working alongside Belizean leaders, Carla developed courses to help teachers and administrators understand the implications for teaching and learning arising from a Reformed, biblical worldview.
Having successfully completed the work with the Belizean Church, Carla is now developing online teacher education courses and traveling with a small team to countries around the world. The team’s goals are to facilitate the creation of God-centered day and home schools in Reformed churches and to equip teachers for these schools. Her ministry, PS78Teachers, takes its name from Psalm 78, “We will not hide … but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of our Lord.”
