Brent Kooi
Missionary | Australia | Acct # 14009
“Would the world be better off without religion?” Eighty-one percent of The Sydney Morning Herald’s readers answered yes. With only 2% attending weekly evangelical worship services, Australia stands at the forefront of secular and postmodern culture.
As a global city of immense diversity, Sydney offers gospel opportunities reaching far beyond its shores. The Sydney team is working toward a healthy, multicultural church-planting movement that will multiply missionaries throughout Asia-Pacific and beyond.
Brent serves with Harbour City Church and its Reformed University Fellowship ministry on four Sydney campuses, teaching at various trainings and events. With international students comprising up to half of the student population at some universities, Brent is developing a ministry to reach these students with the hope of the gospel and equip them to bring that hope back to their nations, including China and other countries where missionary access is restricted.
Before serving in Australia, Brent had a career in university student development administration, including nine years at Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi, and then served with MTW in Japan before transitioning to the Sydney team. He is a graduate of Dordt University and Azusa Pacific University.
