Emma Phillips
Missionary | Japan | Acct # 401075

Emma felt a call to missions while attending Palm Beach Atlantic University. She was with a team partnering with a local church in Brazil to host day camps for kids, and while sitting on the bus in Brasília, she recognized that the Lord was calling her to serve. Since that point, God has been faithful in providing opportunities for Emma to serve in ministry.
Japan was a place God repeatedly put on Emma’s heart, and after meeting several members of the Nagoya team at the 2024 MTW Global Missions Conference, Emma was sure that she needed to go. She began the application process, and God was faithful to provide.
Currently, less than 1% of Japan is Christian. The Japanese people live with increasing isolation, high social expectations, anxiety, and stress. Their identity is deeply rooted in cultural tradition, making it difficult to accept the gospel. These factors contribute to Emma’s heart for the Japanese. Her desire is to “declare his glory among the nations” (Psalm 96:3). She knows that God loves the Japanese and is able to draw them to Himself. While in Nagoya, Emma will serve in college ministry and teach at Nagoya Christian School.
