This audio is the first episode of a new podcast by MTW missionary Kay Burklin and former missionary Carolyn Morris, “Refugees: What You Don’t Hear on the News.” 

When Philip and Joy Kirkland moved to Athens, Greece, to serve as MTW missionaries, they never conceived of the coming refugee crisis and how that would transform their ministry. They have helped start a church plant with a multi-cultural group of people from roughly 15 different nations, many of whom are refugees. Joy, a trained trauma counselor, found herself in the middle of a refugee population who have experienced a great deal of trauma.
