Jon & Sarah Pfeil

Jon and Sarah came to faith in Christian homes in the Midwest. After graduating with a degree in chemical engineering, Jon first served with MTW Japan from 1999 to 2001. Sarah graduated from nursing school and developed a heart for missions through mission trips to Mexico. They married in 2002.

Though Japan is well known as an economic power and cultural influence in the world, Japan is one of the least reached countries with the gospel, with less than 0.5% of Japan’s 125 million people professing faith in Jesus Christ.

The Pfeils moved to Japan as a family in 2006. They first served in a campus ministry role at Chiba University. Later, they joined Japanese pastor Seima Aoyagi in planting Grace Harbor Church in the Tokyo waterfront area. Due to significant health issues, they are currently based in the U.S. and work full-time for MTW Japan on both sides of the Pacific. On the U.S. side that includes mobilizing new missionaries and fostering prayer and tangible support for missionaries and Japanese ministry workers. On the Japan side that includes continuing support for Grace Harbor Church, serving as team leader for the MTW Japan HQ Team, and engaging in other field-wide endeavors.
