2025 PCA COMPASSION OFFERING

Compassion Fund: Global Disaster Response
Project # 40043

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. (2 Corinthians 3–4, NIV)

Chaos and panic erupted in Viña del Mar, Chile, when deadly wildfires began scorching through the city on February 2, 2024.

For five days, the flames devoured neighborhoods, reducing thousands of homes to ash and claiming 137 lives. An estimated 1,600 people were left with nothing—forced to seek shelter in tents, cars, or the skeletal remains of buildings.

Through the MTW Compassion Fund, missionaries were a lifeline, offering immediate and ongoing relief to those trapped in this haunting reality.

MTW’s Compassion Fund offers immediate financial help when MTW ministry locations are impacted by disaster. During the first months of recovery in Chile, the Compassion Fund provided meals and temporary housing for many affected families. As rebuilding began, MTW missionaries helped people piece their lives back together, using donations from PCA churches and individuals to purchase badly needed construction materials and household items.

More than a year later, MTW missionaries still offer practical support and proclaim the love of Jesus to their hurting community.

This is just one example of the way the Compassion Fund, supported through this annual offering, empowers MTW missionaries to respond to urgent needs in their communities. In the middle of disaster, loss, and suffering, they can give physical aide and share the hope of the gospel.

Every year the Compassion Fund enables our missionaries and national partners to respond to urgent situations in their communities, meeting physical needs and sharing the love of Christ. We are grateful for your past support.

*Funds received by MTW as part of a disaster response appeal are used for relief and recovery, construction, travel for response teams, and related needs as well as for longer-term rebuilding and church planting. Exceptionally, when there are unspent funds, they will be used in future disaster and compassion situations.
