Equip: Ministry to the Mis-reached Native Tribes | Oct 22

OPPORTUNITY DETAILS

October 22
9 a.m.–4 p.m. PST
In-Person

Desert Palms PCA
4265 S Arizona Ave,
Chandler, Arizona 85248

Join the MTW West Coast hub and the Wadhams—missionaries to the First Nations tribes in the Pacific Northwest—for an Equip training which will focus on First Nations tribes. The Wadhams will talk about effective strategies and hopes for future work in new fields to the tribes in Arizona.

They plan to reach out to First Nation college students on Phoenix campuses and to a tribe along the border with Mexico. The goal is to let Arizona churches know about local, cross-cultural opportunities to serve and to make connections to these new ministries.

We use the term "mis-reached" because the Indigenous nations first received the gospel via catastrophic means to their culture. The natives were “de-culturalized” (pressured to abandon being native and to adopt the Anglo-Saxon culture, language, dress, and religion.) Due to this history, missionaries to Native Americans today need to exercise wisdom and tact as they present the gospel of Jesus in a better way.

To let us know you're coming, hit the "Register" button above. You will receive further details once your registration is confirmed.

"Equip" is a training event designed to deepen your understanding of missions and help you see how God’s global plan intersects with your life. The topic will always vary as we meet at local churches to explore together. This event is open to everyone, so invite your friends, your family, your church, and bring your questions!
