When I was only thirteen years old God put a love for Japan on my heart. The culture had always fascinated me greatly, it was so bright and colorful yet so peaceful and humble at the same time. I had no clue as to how a culture could exhibit both without one overpowering the other. For the longest time I had only wanted to go for fun and only for a week as a tourist. But God had other plans for my life. I vividly remember the day that God changed the trajectory of my heart.

It was a normal day like any other, it was Sunday and I had tons of homework to finish. I was walking around to get something for the homework that I had been working on when right before I walked into the next room, I heard a voice in my head. Now that might seem a little crazy at only thirteen years old, but this voice was as clear as day. The words God said to me where “Laura, you’re going to go to Japan as a missionary.” I was completely caught off guard and froze right where I was standing. I could not believe what I had heard God say directly to me. But I still responded, “Ok God, I will go.” Ever since that day I have been working towards the goal God would have for me, to go to Japan.

I was accepted on the twelfth of January by the Chiba AO team to come join their ministry in Japan. I will be going over to Japan to do the exact thing that God had called me to do five years ago. I will be primarily teaching at Covenant Community School International (CCSI) in Chiba, Japan, full time. There I will form relationships with students, become a part of the Chiba AO team, and become a part of the church community in Japan. That means I get to teach and hang out with kids as a job! YES PLEASE! I am so elated to go to Japan on August 25^th for 11 months to begin my journey with God in Japan. But to do that I am going to need people to be apart of my team, support, and prayer wise.

The cost to serve in Japan is around $18,143. This amount covers travel, ministry and living expenses for the ministry in Japan. As I mentioned, I need to develop a team of partners in order to join AO’s ministry to Japan.
